frequently asked questions

Do you accept insurance?

Although direct billing is not available at this time, many insurance companies reimburse for nutrition therapy or cover for preventative nutrition education. Simply check your insurance to see what they cover.

Cash, check, or e-transfer are accepted, where a receipt outlining services provided will be sent to you after each session so you can submit this to your insurance provider for direct reimbursement.

Do you have a sliding scale?

Yes. I believe everyone has a right to good health and I want to be able to support you on that journey. If you think you qualify for a sliding scale, please contact me for details.

I am not available in the Greater Vancouver area. Can I still see you?

Options are available for online counselling. Feel free to contact me to discuss options.

What should I expect during my free consultation and subsequent initial assessment?

The phone consultation is a chance for us to get to know each other where we'll discuss what brought you to nutrition coaching, the role food plays in your life, and health goals you may have.  It's a chance to find out whether nutritional therapy and coaching is right for you!

If so, you will fill a nutrition assessment form which includes a 3-day food record, medical history, and basic questions about food proficiency prior to our first initial assessment to help me understand your baseline.  During the assessment, I'll ask questions to help guide you toward identifying your top priorities and motivators, helping you brainstorm and adopt new strategies. You'll come away from each session with two to three concrete goals you can achieve before our next session.

We'll spend time checking in with how the week(s) went with regard to your goals and readjusting our focus according to your needs in the follow-up sessions.

Will my sessions and information be kept confidential?

With the exception of the client posing a serious and immediate threat to self or others, no information shared by you in a counselling session will be given to anyone without your written permission. Client information will never be shared with friends, acquaintances, or members of the public. A consent form will be given to you prior to our first session outlining detailed confidentiality policies.
